Owed Free Trial: What Is Actually Free in 2026 (Honest Answer)

The Owed teamOctober 21, 20266 min read

Does Owed have a free trial? The direct answer

No, Owed Pro doesn’t have a free trial. The first week costs $2, and if you don’t cancel within 7 days it renews at $49 a year. We’d rather say that plainly than bury it, because a lot of pages that rank for “free trial” questions make it sound otherwise.

What Owed does have is a set of tools that are free permanently, with no account and no card. For plenty of people those are enough. The rest of this page is about exactly where the free part stops.

What’s free without an account

Five things, all free, all permanent:

  1. The settlement directory. Every listed settlement, with the payout range, deadline, proof label and a plain-English case page. Currently 25 open for claims.
  2. Unclaimed money search. Links to the official unclaimed property search for all 50 states and DC, plus federal places money can sit.
  3. Flight compensation checker. What an airline may owe you for a cancelled or delayed flight under U.S. DOT rules or EU261.
  4. The glossary. 130 settlement and refund terms in plain English.
  5. The guides. On this site and on claimowedmoney.com: finding, filing, proof, payouts and scams.

And one more that isn’t ours to give away: filing a claim directly with the settlement administrator is always free.

What the $2 week includes

For $2 you get full Owed Pro for 7 days, the same thing members pay $49 a year for:

  • a short quiz about the companies and products you’ve used and your state, then your personal list of settlements you may qualify for;
  • plain-English instructions for each claim, and a button that opens the administrator’s official claim form, which you fill in and submit yourself;
  • a claim tracker: tap “I submitted it”, paste the confirmation number if you got one, and follow it from submitted to approved to paid;
  • deadline reminders 7 days and 24 hours before a claim closes, plus new-match and payout alerts;
  • a wallet that shows estimated earnings next to money you’ve actually collected.

Where the free part stops

The line is simple. Free shows you what’s out there. Pro tells you what applies to you and remembers it for you.

  • Matching — sorting settlements by the companies you’ve used and filtering out ones for other states — is Pro.
  • Instructions and the official-form handoff are Pro. The free case pages explain each case; with the free route you find the official site yourself.
  • Reminders, alerts and the tracker are Pro.

The full side-by-side is on our pricing page.

How to judge Owed without wasting money

  1. Browse the free directory first. Count the open cases for companies you’ve actually used. If it’s zero or one, you don’t need Pro.
  2. If it’s three or more, start the $2 week. Take the quiz and compare your matches with what you found yourself.
  3. Check two or three matches on their official sites. The facts should line up. If you qualify, submit them.
  4. Put a reminder on day 6. By then you’ll know whether the matches and reminders are worth $49 a year to you. If not, cancel from your profile.

What happens if you change your mind

Cancel before the 7 days are up and the $49 is never charged. Cancel later and you keep Pro until the end of the year you paid for. Either way, Owed’s Terms include a 14-day money-back guarantee: email support@claimowedmoney.com within 14 days of a charge and that charge is refunded in full.

Any claims you submitted are yours, whatever you decide. They were filed on the official form, and the administrator pays you directly. You can also delete your Owed account and its data from your profile.

Free alternatives

If paying anything is a dealbreaker, that’s a reasonable position, and there are good free routes:

  • file directly on each settlement’s official website;
  • use free settlement lists such as ClassAction.org and Top Class Actions alongside Owed’s free directory;
  • compare settlement apps with free tiers on our alternatives page.

Our guide on finding settlements you qualify for covers the free methods in detail.

Verdict: free tools yes, free trial no

Owed chose a $2 first week over a free trial, and it gives away the directory and tools permanently instead. If you want to test the paid part, $2 plus a day-6 reminder is a cheap way to do it, and the 14-day money-back guarantee covers mistakes. If you only want the free parts, use them — no account needed. Our full Owed review has the rest.
