Owed FAQ

The questions people ask us most — answered straight. 👇

What is Owed?

Owed (claimowedmoney.com) is a web app that helps you find class action settlements you may qualify for, understand them in plain English, and keep track of the claims you submit. It lists 25 open settlements right now, each one checked on its official settlement website first. The directory is free to browse; Owed Pro adds personal matches, deadline reminders and a claim tracker. See our full review and pricing breakdown.

Does Owed file claims for me?

No. Owed explains each claim and opens the settlement administrator’s official claim form, but you fill it in and submit it yourself. Claim forms are signed under penalty of perjury, so they should come from you.

How much does Owed cost?

Owed Pro is $2 for the first week, then $49 a year — one flat membership. Owed never takes a percentage of any payout. Parts of the site are free without an account, and filing directly with an administrator is always free.

Is Owed free?

Not entirely. The settlements directory, the unclaimed money links, the flight compensation checker and the guides are free. Personal matches, reminders and the tracker are part of Owed Pro. Details on our free trial page.

Does Owed take a cut of my settlement?

Never. The settlement administrator pays you directly — by check, direct deposit, PayPal or whatever the form offers. Owed never touches the money.

Is Owed legit?

Owed is a real company with a public directory you can check, official claim forms, published Terms with a 14-day money-back guarantee, and a support inbox at support@claimowedmoney.com. It’s also new, with no public reviews yet. We wrote a whole page on how to check us.

Is Owed a law firm?

No. Owed is software. It doesn’t give legal advice, represent you, or decide claims. Courts and settlement administrators decide who qualifies and how much they get.

Where do Owed’s settlements come from?

Leads are collected daily from public sources. Before a case is listed, it’s checked on the official settlement website: the claim form must be live, the deadline at least 7 days away, the settlement open to ordinary US consumers, and the site must be the real administrator’s. Live cases are re-checked for deadline changes.

How long do settlement payouts take?

Usually months, sometimes more than a year. Payments go out after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved. Owed can track your claim, but it can’t speed it up. Our payout timeline guide explains each stage.

Do I need proof of purchase?

Sometimes. Many settlements pay a smaller amount with no proof and more with receipts or records. Owed labels every case “No proof”, “Some proof” or “Proof required” so you know before you start. See our proof guide.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, from your profile in the app. Cancel during the $2 first week and you won’t be charged $49. Owed’s Terms also give a 14-day money-back guarantee on any charge.

Is there an Owed app?

Owed works in any phone or desktop browser. There’s no App Store or Google Play app yet.

What does Owed do with my data?

To help you file, Owed stores the details you enter (like your name, email and state) and your claim statuses. You can delete your account and its data from your profile. Owed’s privacy policy explains what is shared with service providers, settlement administrators and advertising partners, and there’s a “Do not sell or share” switch in settings.

How does Owed compare with other settlement apps?

Some competitors have App Store and Android apps, free tiers or longer refund windows; Owed has a free directory, a flat yearly price and a 14-day money-back guarantee. Our alternatives page and head-to-head comparisons lay it out with sources.

Can I use Owed if I live outside the US?

Owed lists US class action settlements, and most are only open to US residents. The flight compensation checker also covers EU261 for European trips.

What’s the difference between a settlement and unclaimed money?

A settlement is money a company agreed to pay to end a lawsuit, and you claim it through the settlement administrator. Unclaimed money is your own money a state is holding — an old paycheck, deposit or refund. Owed’s free unclaimed money page links every state’s official search.

Who writes this site?

The Owed team. This site reviews our own product, so it isn’t independent. We try to keep it fair — including telling you when you don’t need us — and competitor facts come from their own sites and app-store listings.

How do I contact Owed?
